A Glimpse of Heaven

The very clear message I absorbed from the homily my younger sister and I heard in Baclaran last Sunday.

He stated that Cory’s death gave us Filipinos the opportunity to experience heaven even for a short span of time being.

We had witnessed the oneness of our state and our church that for a long a time were always divided by dogma.

We had witnessed enemies from different political parties stayed under the roof of Manila Cathedral.

We, Filipinos were so fortunate to have witnessed that.

By that, we must be so thankful that Cory was born as a Filipino. But let us not also forget Ninoy who started it all – the fight to have this country the freedom we are enjoying now.

I believe that we should also honor Ninoy as the father of democracy here in the Philippines.

That’s their legacy to us, to our country which inspired so many other countries and personalities.

And yesterday’s scripture from my Daily Bread Campus Journal was entitled What Will Your Legacy Be? So timely.

Today’s reflection: if you’re going to compose your epitaph, what would you honestly say?

Mine would be..Let the JOYS in your heart and spirit glow as I leave this earth.

Ninoy’s letter to his daughter Ballsy and to his only son Noynoy.
